TERADATA TERADATA DIGITAL MARKETING CENTER BLOCKS

One of the fun jobs of being an engineer at Teradata Marketing Applications was testing out the new products or features as they came out on Digital Marketing Center (DMC). One of these features was a template WYSIWYG. The WYSIWYG email builder was lovingly nicknamed the email block builder as it created emails using code blocks.

The code blocks were various parts of emails that could be dragged together to create all new emails. These email blocks were then editable via a guided template process so that marketers never had to see the underlying HTML before sending out an email.

From this, a project came to me with one goal in mind, make internal newsletters that marketers could easily just update and send out via DMC. Being one of the first to use the new block feature for a non-testing purpose, I was tasked with the ability to both learn this feature and teach it to my colleagues. I was provided with several emails that Teradata wanted to use for this feature and I re-coded them to work inside the email block builder as separate emails. Then I reassembled the blocks in order to create emails that were simple and easy to learn.

After the initial completion of the project, I prepared documentation and feedback on the feature as well as a diagram of all the blocks for the internal marketer to use. I also ended up teaching the internal training expert in how to navigate this feature.
